Rumors are out today that Apple may be considering a price discount of $100.00 on the price of the iPod Touch and iPhone. There’s a possibility that we may see these price drops in the next month or two.
The price drop may not sit well with current owners. When Steve Jobs cut the price of the 8Gb iPhone by $200.00 last June, just 2 months after the iPhone went on sale, iPhone owner’s weren’t very happy campers.
New prices:
8GB iPhone - $299 with phase out to follow
16GB iPhone - $3998GB iPod Touch - $199 with phase out to follow
16GB iPod Touch - $299
32GB iPod Touch $399
It’s possible that we may see price drops on other Apple products like the iPod Nano, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
The reason for the price drops? For at least a few of the product lines, it’s due to falling prices on flash. With the pending introduction of Apple’s 3G iPhone, Apple may be looking to try and open a way to set a price point on the improved iPhone.
If your considering purchasing one of these products, you might just want to hold off for a bit. You may be able to get a better deal on that iPod touch you’ve had your eye on, and if you’ve been looking to buy the iPhone, hold off if you can. Apple is planning to release their improved 3G iPhone in the near future.

OMG, what is with people. Just like any other product, take for example the PS2 or PS3, when it first comes out the prices are high but eventually, years down the road those prices come down. It’s part of life, so if you got upset because you paid the higher price for one, grow up. Think about this, you had your IPOD before other people got theirs when the price dropped.
Well said.
