Nike+ has developed a new line of running-enhancing gear that apparently leaves the Apple iPod out of the equation.
In July of 06′ Nike and Apple launched their Nike+iPod Sport Kit for $29.00. The device is fairly popular and gets good ratings from users. The kit includes a sensor that integrates with a Nike+ shoe and another sensor which attaches to the iPod Nano to allow users to measure and tack their performance.
Users can view their data on the iPod and sync their iPod nano to their computer where they can upload workout data to iTunes and Nikeplus.com. There they can evaluate performance and even challenge other runners to a “virtual race”.
However, the FCC recently passed a new “Sportband” for the Nike+ line of products which could replace the Nike+iPod kit.

The SportBand eliminates the iPod from it’s equation. The Sportband fits into a bracelet and sends data to a standard Nike+ shoe adapter. The Sportband would then connect to your PC via USB to transmit the data to your computer.
